We officially began our palm weevil larvae farming project on July 13, 2024, after an initial self-experiment and research phase. This project is designed to lay the foundation for large-scale breeding operations on a 1,000-square-meter land in Bonaberi, focusing on creating sustainable food sources and contributing to food security in Africa.
Total Costs Breakdown:
- Research and Experimentation: 90,000 XAF
- Batches of Larvae (20 batches at 2,500 XAF each): 50,000 XAF
- Cotton Clothes: 5,000 XAF
- Food: 20,000 XAF
- Coconut Husks: 15,000 XAF
- Cassava: 5,000 XAF
- Banana: 5,000 XAF
- Labor: 20,000 XAF
Total Investment: 210,000 XAF
Project Objectives:
- Raise strong breeding stocks for future large-scale palm weevil larvae farming.
- Utilize the 1,000-square-meter land in Bonaberi to expand production.
- Provide a sustainable and nutritious food source, high in protein, to local and international markets.
- Create job opportunities and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
